Our Work

Love What We Do

Our strategic focus areas for transforming the lives of children and youth with Type I Diabetes. Each pillar is a powerful building block to save lives, build confidence, and strengthen communities.

Health&Well-Being for Every Child
1

The Insulin Support Program focuses on reaching the most vulnerable—especially children and youth with Type 1 Diabetes in rural or low-income communities—by ensuring that life-saving insulin and essential care are never out of reach. Through access, affordability, and education, the program provides continuous insulin supply, glucose monitoring tools, and practical training for safe use and storage. The Insulin Support Program builds reliable care networks that integrate nutrition, mental health, and community support, helping every child live a healthier, more secure life.

Education Support for Self Management & Empowerment
2

My Care TEAM (Trained Empathic Aware Motivated) is a school-based initiative that equips schools to support and care for children living with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). It transforms schools into safe, informed, and empathetic environments where every child is understood, cared for, and empowered. Through awareness, skill-building, and practical tools, My Care TEAM helps schools promote student health, foster inclusion, and prepare teachers and peers to respond confidently in emergencies.

Community Resilience & Support Networks
3

Supporting One Another (SOAR) is a peer-led, expert-guided program that strengthens the support system around children living with Type 1 Diabetes in Nigeria. It connects caregivers in safe circles where they share experiences, learn practical care and coping skills, and build resilience together. Through expert input and peer leadership, SOAR fosters trust, emotional wellbeing, and stronger networks of care across the country.

Advocacy for Child and Youth Health Equity
4

#knowthesigns is a campaign driving systems change so that early detection becomes routine and care is affordable, accessible, and equitable for every child and young person. It aims to raise awareness by increasing public and provider recognition of childhood conditions like Type 1 Diabetes, promoting early diagnosis and timely care. The campaign also pushes for policy reform to secure affordable medicines, diagnostics, and pediatric services through national and state policies, while advancing

Transition to Adulthood
5

The Care to Confidence Program helps young Nigerians with Type 1 Diabetes move smoothly from paediatric to adult care. It empowers youths aged 15–21 with practical skills for self-management, communication with healthcare providers, and managing diabetes in university, NYSC, or early career life. The program also supports individualized transition plans and conducts readiness assessments to build confidence, resilience, and independence.

Every young life holds extraordinary promise.

A world where every child and young person can thrive and reach their full potential, no matter the obstacles.

We work to ensure that children and youth aged 0–21 living with Type 1 Diabetes have equitable access to life‑saving quality healthcare, the knowledge and skills to manage the condition with confidence, and supportive communities that sustain their long‑term well‑being.
